The Kyburz Petroglyph - carvings on these rocks date back approximately 2,000 years. This is just a few yards off the Henness Pass road.

Kyburz flat had been a major stop along the Henness Pass Road, with a hotel, stage stop, corrals, etc. It was interesting to see how little was left after just over 125 years.

It only took a couple of minutes to clear away the small stones and get our tent set up for the night.

We grilled a couple of huge steaks over the fire. There's something primeval about eating a smoky-tasting piece of meat on a cold evening. A little salt and pepper, and we were in heaven!

All packed up and ready to set out on Saturday morning for the second leg of our trek.

We policed up our camp, poured a bunch of water on the remaining coals in the fire-ring and headed out.

One of the little lakes along the road. There was a flock of Canadian Geese quietly honking as they swam along the far side. It was really a beautiful sight.

We saw one group of fishermen just setting up to try their luck here. I'd love to come back and spend a day on this lake.
